‘WILD LAND – WILD MAN’ Men’s Vision Quest
Be wild. Be a wild man. Be tender. Be a tender man. Be real. Be a real man.

Chopping wood, cooking over the fire, climbing the mountain. Singing together, holding each other in the arm, laughing and crying. What does it mean to be a real man? What are my tasks as a man?

And which of these tasks have been imposed on me? From my ancestors. From society. From the institutions. What burden do I carry with me that prevents me from pursuing my real task on Mother Earth? What is my real task? How can I face the war and the conflicts that show up both outside and inside without falling into madness? How can I draw strength from the encounter of my inner life to walk for peace?

Do I want to take responsibility and am I ready to take it from my heart? For myself, for the world, for a project or for a child? Am I ready to become a father and stay as a father? Or do I need to heal my relationship with my own father first? Or with my mother? How can I live an authentic relationship? Can I also be soft and fragile?

These are all topics and questions that you can encounter at Alpe Mecchia in the circle of wild men. But in the end, it all depends on you. What are your issues, what do you want to experience the ancient initiation ritual for? Or don’t you even know yet? Even then, you are very welcome at Alpe Mecchia to find it out.

Here you sit in a circle around the fire, drink fresh spring water, walk barefoot on the sacred mother earth and breathe in clear, fresh mountain air.Here you can show yourself authentically, with all your pain, your insecurity, your anger, but also with your joy, your talents and strengths. Here you can simply be relaxed with it.

We invite you to join us and other men in the ancient ritual of the Visionquest. We create a protected space in which we support and challenge each other and show what it can mean to be a man in this world at this time. Whether as a son, brother, lover, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend; the word ‘man’ consists of many facets and truly not all of them are polished or without scratches. These ‘unsightly’parts of our manhood often have a direct connection to those areas of our lives where things are not going quite right. Taking a closer look at these issues in a circle of men can have a very healing effect.With the help of the medicine wheel, the circle of men, the mirror of nature and the guidance of experienced vision quest guides, you will get closer to the core of your issues and your being and be prepared for the ancient ritual of the Visionquest.You finally decide to go into the wilderness alone for four days and four nights. In doing so, you will be following an ancient path that many people have gone since time immemorial to find in solitude at powerful places in nature clarity on certain life issues and to renew your connection with the greater whole. Beyond the spiritual process, the great teacher Mother Nature can send you decisive messages in this ritual. Because you experience yourself and life without distractions, without the stress of everyday life. Here you can encounter the fullness of being. As well as the emptiness.  You can surrender to it completely in order to be reborn as the person you really are.
When you return from the mountain as this man, you will be welcomed and celebrated by the community, by your new brotherhood! In a safe circle, you can tell your story, reflect on it and be mirrored.

Finally, you will be prepared to integrate what you have learnt so that you can take it fully with you into your life ‘down in the valley’. Are you ready to take further steps towards becoming whole?

⊕ Our favorite VisionQuest place: Alpe Meccia/Macugnaga, Italy is located at 1,800 m above sea level, as if on a “balcony “opposite the gigantic mountain goddess “La Rosa” (Monte Rosa 4670 m), there we have leased 2 old stone alpine huts with lots of space all around for our tents, the yurt for group work and lots of wide wild land with rivers/waterfalls & breathtaking views.
